Basket Eddy was a mannequin who ran for Jr Class President at New Canaan High School in 1973. Unfortunately for the NCHS student body, a student noted that a student body had to be enrolled in order to run for the office. It would have been cooler to have a real dummy run things. What press he would have gotten. National coverage for NCHS on the nightly news. Harry Reasoner could have driven down from Westport to do a bit for 60 Minutes. Eddy would have been overnight famous, like the Kardashians. (Just like them, by the way, if you get the drift.) Instead, Eddy signed the names of ten students to the official form, had them run instead, and won. Even with ten bodies, twenty hands, a few bright minds in the bunch, nothing really got done. Reasoner did give a speech at the NCHS Commencement in 1974, but he never knew anything about Eddy or any of the students in particular. In the mid-70s Eddy faded into obscurity. His whereabouts now unknown.

That was then, this is now.

Basket Eddys live across the United States and are available to travel for speaking engagements. Though they have no idea who would want them to, but ask away.
